Who we are

I like to say I’ve been kicking round the voluntary sector for 20 years, but that's just a bit of vanity about my age. It’s really closer to 30 years!

Marcus Green, Managing Director
In the early days I ran political campaigns and developed a thorough knowledge of Westminster, local politics and all points in between. I had to organise Ministerial visits up to Prime Ministerial level, at the same time organising leaflet deliveries in the dead of winter. I learned a load about motivation and team work and developed an expertise in Albanian politics too.

It was a lot of fun and has given me enough after dinner yarns to last a lifetime.

I then moved into the mainstream of charities and became volunteer co-ordinator of a regional charity, where I rapidly realised that I could help streamline the organisation and led a review of how we managed the team of 70, which led to me being redeployed as effectively a deputy CEO.
Following this I became CEO of a charity for the visually impaired which was a big challenge and I delivered their 3-year strategy in under 2, after this it was time to move to becoming CEO of a hospice.

This was a big move and I threw my heart and soul into it. The team did some great stuff, we revitalised the flagging capital appeal and raised another £1.8m to build a new hospice, we vastly increased the number of patients coming through the door.

After doing the job that was needed, I realised that I could have done with the help I now offer to charities in Gloucestershire, and Bowbridge Green was born...
